Jackson Martinez scored his first Atletico Madrid goal in helping the Rojiblancos thump Sevilla 3-0 at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan tonight.
The 2014 champions earned a slender lead at the break through Koke, before Gabi and Martinez - a £25m signing from Porto - struck in the final quarter to ensure that the visitors made it two from two thus far.
Only three minutes elapsed before Atletico found themselves under pressure, with Jan Oblak pulling off a smart save to keep out Coke's angled effort.
Slowly but surely the visitors developed a foothold, as Antoine Griezmann saw a deflected free kick glide just wide, before Tiago fired straight into the arms of Beto.
Diego Simeone's side continued to look the more dangerous of the two, and Griezmann and Tiago again tried their luck but neither attempt was on target.
Despite Atletico bossing possession, it was the hosts who had the better chances, and another came on 32 minutes when Benoit Tremoulinas was denied by Oblak at the near post.
It proved the biggest moment of the half as Koke swept home Griezmann's ball shortly after to give the visitors a slender lead at the break
All eyes were on Fernando Llorente prior to kickoff after the towering Spanish striker earned his debutfollowing his switch from Juventus this week.
However, Llorente could, and perhaps should, have marked his bow with an equaliser on 65 minutes but he drilled a loose ball agonisingly wide for a miss that proved costly.
Gabi effectively then wrapped up the points on 79 minutes with a deflected effort, before Martinez made extra sure in the closing stages of normal time.
