Alexander Ryazantsev: “I don’t think that those kinds of mistakes are permissible for a club of our level”
Zenit’s midfielder about the reasons for the loss to Krylia, the missed penalty, the possible underestimation of the opponent, and the Champions League draw.

— It’s an unexpected result for a match with Krylia Sovetov. What went wrong?
— We had a pretty bad game in the back — we gave up three easy goals. It’s clear that we were more active in the second half, were able to get back into it. But then two or three of their players broke down five or six of ours on defense. Of course we are going to look into it, but this isn’t permissible at a club like ours.
— Was today’s result fair?
— Yes of course. Krylia Sovetov made great use of their chances. We weren’t lucky today. I think that if Hulk had scored the penalty we could have stormed back, it would have added to our success. But right now to speak about that doesn’t make any sense.
— Do you think that the reason for the loss is that Zenit didn’t thoroughly analyze Juan Mollo, who had three assists today?
— I don’t think it’s worth strongly putting too much attention on one of their players. From my point of view the problem is with how we played.
— How do you rate the Champions League group for Zenit?
— There are different results with different clubs from year to year. I think that if Zenit shows their level then everything will work out well. If not, then there will be problems. We are going to play, then we’ll see.
— After the loss you’ll have a break for the national teams. Does this help Zenit?
— I don’t think that Zenit needs a break. Today we just weren’t concentrated.
— Did you underrate your opponent today?
— That wouldn’t be quite right to say because we controlled the match in the first half, we were making it past the pitch’s center mark, but by that point we were already losing 0:1. That could hardly be because of underrating the opponent. It’s more likely owing to tactical reasons.

30 August. Moscow. Lokomotiv Stadium. Cloudy. 20 degrees. 10 500 spectators.
If the previous match of the Russian Football Championship vs. FC Mordovia Saransk was staged 3 days after the UEFA Europa League fixture, then for this away game vs. FC Lokomotiv Moscow the Bulls had even less time for recovery, merely 63 hours. FC Krasnodar boss Oleg Kononov made four changes to the lineup if compared with the clash in Helsinki; instead of Torbinski, Markov, Ahmedov and Wánderson the following players made a start in the game: Gazinskiy, Mamayev, Laborde and Smolov.
The Moscow team went to besiege the away goal guarded by Dykan from a start. On the very first minute of the game Niasse attempted a dangerous shot next to the goalpost. Lokomotiv kept on attacking incessantly, but the defensive line of the Bulls worked competently cutting short the attempts of the opposition to create sharp chances with the latter still approaching the away penalty area. When the 10th minute was done the visitors launched a smashing counterattack with Fyodor Smolov being its principal character. After receiving the ball from Gazinskiy the FC Krasnodar No. 90 approached the home box, outplayed Tarasov and sent the ball along a nice arc flying into the net by the second goalpost of Guilherme’s domain.
The Railroaders continued their attacking actions scoring an equalizing goal 8 minutes later, and a very curious goal at that. FC Krasnodar defenders had already managed to neutralize the break-in by Baye Niasse, it seemed, but the latter, lying flat on the ground, succeeded somehow to push the ball towards the goal so it whisked into the first corner under Dykan who did not anticipate such a dirty trick.
The game became equal after the teams had traded goals. FC Krasnodar players began visiting the opposite half of the pitch more, and on the 26th minute Smolov tried to replicate his scoring deed; this time though Guilherme managed to react to the shot and took hold of the ball. This shot on goal was the last dangerous one in the first half, actually.
In the second half the home team pushed the tempo of the game, so now it the Bulls found it hard to keep it as exhausted with their intensive playing schedule as they were. As a result, it became red hot in the away box. A splendid shot by Tarasov hit the goalpost of Dykan’s goal, but the Moscow team continued with their attack scoring a winning goal just a few dozens of seconds later. Niasse responded to a pass by Samedov and made a point-blank shot; Dykan parried the ball, but Alan Kasaev was the first one on rebound sending the ball into the net with a header.
Oleg Kononov tried to liven up the performance of his players with substitutions, which led to Krasnodar players playing more actively in attack. Still, the Railroaders would not fall back entirely into defense replying with counterattacks of their own that turned out sometimes rather sharp. This interchange of attacks went on until the full-time whistle, but no more goals were scored in the game, so FC Krasnodar suffered their second defeat in the Russian Premier League this season.
