Glory boosts goalkeeping stocks

Perth Glory FC have announced the signing of former Olyroo and Young Socceroo goalkeeper Jerrad Tyson for the next two seasons.
The 25-year old Tasmanian heads to Perth after spending the past season with Sun Pegasus in the Hong Kong Premier League.
The 1.89 metre tall custodian made his Hyundai A-league debut in 2010 with Gold Coast United, where he played between 2009 and 2012.
Prior to his East Asian stint, Tyson spent two years with Western Sydney Wanderers, filling in for regular keeper Ante Covic.
“I’m very happy to have made the jump across to WA. Glory is a great club with lots of talent and excellent coaching staff, so I’m looking forward to the next challenge ahead” he said.
“Regular game time will be my focus but that’s down to me and impressing the coaches at training” Tyson said.
Ironically it was against Perth Glory that Tyson made his debut for Western Sydney in 2013-14 and kept a clean sheet.
Coach Kenny Lowe said Tyson was a good fit for the club.
“Jerrad’s been playing at a competitive level for some time now. He’s got the pedigree and massive potential to break out and be a number one goalkeeper. He has played at some of the best clubs in the A-League so he’s going to be a very important player for us” Lowe said.
Tyson completed his fitness and medical tests today and will join the rest of the Perth Glory FC squad next week, as the team begins its pre-season campaign.

Moore returns to the Roar

Brisbane Roar have announced that Socceroo legend Craig Moore will return to the club as Football Operations Manager.
Moore was the club’s first marquee player when he signed with the Roar in 2007. He captained the club in 63 appearances in the Orange jersey.
He also won the prestigious Gary Wilkins medal in 2007/08 and 2008/09 and was the Roar Players’ Player of the Year award winner in both seasons.

“Craig has a wealth of experience in football and a first-hand understanding of what it means to play for the Roar,” Roar Head Coach John Aloisi said.

“He will work closely with me as Football Operations Manager.

“His football knowledge and his love for the club will be invaluable as we transition to a new era and rebuild the Roar to challenge for honours again.”
Moore, a renowned tough defender, had an outstanding playing career overseas including 252 appearances for Glasgow Rangers. He captained the famous club and was part of the side that won the 2002/03 Scottish football treble.

He also had stints with Newcastle United and Crystal Palace.

Moore played 52 full internationals for the Socceroos, including appearances at two FIFA World Cups (2006 and 2010).

Milligan leaves Victory for Baniyas

A leader for the reigning champions on and off the field, the experienced campaigner will be sorely missed as Kevin Muscat's men attempt to defend their crown next term
Melbourne Victory have confirmed the widely anticipated transfer of Mark Milligan to Baniyas of the United Arab Emirates.
The club captain and domestic marquee player will formally leave when the Arabian Gulf League's transfer window opens on July 15.
According to a statement released by Victory on Wednesday, the transfer is subject to the completion and processing of documentation by the United Arab Emirates Football Association and Football Federation Australia.
"Mark has been a wonderful servant for Melbourne Victory who has led by example at every opportunity," Victory head coach Kevin Muscat said in a statement.
"He won the Victory Medal in 2012-13 and played a major role in our premiership-championship double last season.
"The offer from Baniyas presents a significant opportunity for Mark and his family that he would like to pursue.
"We wish Mark all the very best for the future and thank him for his service to the club."
Milligan joined Victory in 2012 from JEF United Chiba, initially on loan, before making his transfer from the Japanese coach permanent in July that year.
The 29-year-old, who is able to play in defence but has become more accustomed to a central midfield role in recent years, was named Victory captain in September 2013 and led the team to the A-League title last season.
He has also become a mainstay for the Socceroos during his time at Victory, appearing at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and helping Australia to win the AFC Asian Cup on home soil in January.
The former Sydney FC man has reportedly been the subject of bids from Baniyas on several occasions during the last two years, while Victory also had to fend off interest from Crystal Palace in 2013.
