Bidvest Wits midfielder Doutie signs for Atletico de Kolkata

Goal has been informed that gifted midfielder has finally clinched a move to an overseas club

Outgoing Bidvest Wits midfielder Sameehg Doutie has signed for Indian Super League (ISL) side Atletico de Kolkata.

Doutie spent the 2014/15 campaign on-loan at Wits from SuperSport United. Both, his loan deal and SuperSport contract were due to expire on the 30th of June 2015.

When speaking to Goal Doutie's agent Paul Mitchell, the managing director of Siyavuma Sports Group, confirmed the deal.

"We are delighted to announce that Sameehg Doutie has signed for Atletico Madrid's franchise team Atletico de Kolkata," Mitchell told Goal.

"Sameehg has been presented with a great opportunity to showcase his talent abroad. He really deserves this opportunity," he said.

The 2015 Hero ISL season will begin in September and end in December. After that period the Spanish side will help him get a new club abroad.

"In January, Madrid will get to look at his opportunities abroad, and help him further his career abroad," Mitchell concluded.

The 26-year-old winger was nurtured in the Ajax Cape Town academy, which had also been the stomping ground for Indian youngster Brandon Fernandes. The midfielder was later promoted into their first team during the 2007/08 campaign.

He moved to Orlando Pirates in 2011, where the Cape Town-born player won the MTN8 Cup and Telkom KnockOut Cup trophies. Doutie has also played for the South African under-23 and under-20 national teams.
The footballer will be the seventh foreign player in the Atletico de Kolkata rosters after Iain Hume, Borja Fernandez, Josemi, Ofentse Nato, Jaime Gavilan Martinez and Tiri. Ofentse Nato and Fikru Teferra, two players who played pivotal roles in the club's title winning campaign last season had also represented Bidvest Wits in the past.
This signing reaffirmed coach Jose Antonio Habas' role as the main decision maker of the team as he added another player in his arsenal from the South African league, where he had worked back in 2012-13.
Atletico also have nine Indian players in their rosters as of now: Arnab Mondal, Clifford Miranda, Sushil Singh, Jewel Raja, Denzil Franco, Syed Rahim Nabi, Nadong Bhutia, Nallapan Mohanraj and Baljit Singh Sahni.
The defending champions will start their campaign on the opening day this season, when they will face Chennaiyin FC in an away tie.

Bikramjit Singh extends his contract with Mohun Bagan

The I-League champions have been pretty busy in the pre-season and this time, they have successfully retained the young midfielder...

It's raining good news for Mohun Bagan fans, as Bikramjit Singh has agreed to stay with the Green and Maroons for another year.

Goal had earlier revealed that Bikramjit wanted to extend his stay with Mohun Bagan.

The tenacious midfielder played a starring role in the Mariners' title triumph last season, as the 22-year old has played in 18 of the 20 games in the I-League, having started eight of them.

A part of the Arrows youth brigade, for whom he turned up from 2010-12, this was the second title for the Punjab lad, who had won his first title in his debut season with Churchill Brothers in the 2012-13 season.

Bikramjit, speaking to the Official Mohun Bagan website has thanked the supporters and officials of the club for the title win.

"I think, Mohun Bagan played consistently good football throughout the league, apart from a small phase where we lost some points in successive away games. Though we lost some points, we never lost control of the situation and were at the top of the table for most part of the tournament. I think it became possible because of teamwork between the coaches, the players, the officials and all the supporting staff," said the 22 year old.

He further added that the past season was the best in his career so far.

"Definitely, it was the best season of my football career so far. Apart from winning the I-League wearing the green and maroon colours, it was an enriching experience to play under Zico in Indian Super League, which has indeed made me a better footballer," opined the FC Goa starlet.

This would be Bikramjit's third season with the Mariners after Churchill had loaned him out in 2013-14 before he signed with the Kolkata giants in the next season. He has also been retained by Indian Super League (ISL) side, FC Goa for the upcoming season.

The I-League champions have already made the right moves in the transfer market as they have roped in Lenny Rodrigues and Sanjay Balmuchu among others, besides extending the contract of Katsumi Yusa while roping in Brazilian defender Gustavo Silva, in place of departed Bello Rasaq.

Norde named in Haiti's provisional squad for Gold Cup

The stylish attacker of the Mariners now faces tough competition to be included in the final list.
Sony Norde, who played a pivotal role in Mohun Bagan's I-League winning campaign last season, was included in Haiti's 26-member provisional squad for the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The 12 nation tournament, which is set to decide the continent's representative in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, will kick-start on July 7, with Haiti poised to play the opening match against Panama. The Caribbean nation, who had made it to the last eight in 2002 and 2009 editions of the tournament, find themselves in a tricky group consisting of Panama, United States of America and Honduras.
Head coach Marc Collat, who has played a major role in the nation's football renaissance after the devastating earthquake in 2010, will announce the final squad of 23 members before the deadline of June 27.
Norde had represented Haiti primarily for the age-group teams and has had limited gametime for the senior side. Currently ranked 76th in the world, Le Grenadiers have the likes of Johnny Placide (Stade de Reims), Soni Mustivar (Sporting Kansas City) and Jean Baptiste Andrew (New York Red Bulls) on their roster.
Collat had first started the camp with 35 players before cutting it down to 26. Norde doesn't have a realistic chance to make it to the first eleven with Jeff Luois of Standard Liege expected to be a sure starter on the left wing. It will however, be interesting to see whether Norde makes it to the final squad for the high-profile tournament.
In the I-League, except for the hoard of West Asian players, James Moga and Raul Fabiani are the only two recent players to be part of their national team set-up on a regular basis.
