EARTHQUAKES UPDATE: San Jose (8-11-13, 37 points) is officially out of playoff contention after dropping a 2-1 decision at Colorado on Thursday. It was the team’s first loss against Colorado since Aug. 13, 2011. … Sunday’s match will be the final home game of the season for the Earthquakes. A win against Vancouver would match the team’s 2015 home record of 8-3-6. … The Quakes have gone undefeated in the final home game of the past six seasons, with a record of 4-0-2. … Chris Wondolowski has 10 career goals against Vancouver, more than any other player in MLS history.
VANCOUVER UPDATE: Whitecaps FC (9-15-8, 35 points) will play for the first time since Oct. 2, a 2-1 loss against Seattle. That loss was the final nail in the coffin for Vancouver’s season as the Whitecaps were also officially eliminated from the playoffs. … A win Sunday would put the Whitecaps ahead of San Jose in the standings. … The Whitecaps have allowed 51 goals this season, the most in the Western Conference.
