EARTHQUAKES UPDATE: San Jose (8-11-13, 37 points) is officially out of playoff contention after dropping a 2-1 decision at Colorado on Thursday. It was the team’s first loss against Colorado since Aug. 13, 2011. … Sunday’s match will be the final home game of the season for the Earthquakes. A win against Vancouver would match the team’s 2015 home record of 8-3-6. … The Quakes have gone undefeated in the final home game of the past six seasons, with a record of 4-0-2. … Chris Wondolowski has 10 career goals against Vancouver, more than any other player in MLS history.

That loss was the final nail in the coffin for Vancouver’s season as the Whitecaps were also officially eliminated from the playoffs. … A win Sunday would put the Whitecaps ahead of San Jose in the standings. … The Whitecaps have allowed 51 goals this season, the most in the Western Conference.
