Manchester United starlet Marcus Rashford signs new four-year £25,000-a-week deal

  • Manchester United youngster Marcus Rashford has penned a new four-year deal with the Premier League giants worth an initial £25,000 a week before bonuses.
    The 18-year-old, who became the youngest England player to score on his debut against Australia on Friday, has committed his immediate future to the Old Trafford club and has an option to extend for a further year.
    Cameron Borthwick-Jackson - who made his first-team breakthrough this term prior to Rashford's debut in February - has also penned a new contract which keeps him at the club until at least June 2020.

    THE RISE AND RISE OF RASHFORD

    February 25: Anthony Martial is injured in the warm-up prior to the Europa League clash with Midtjylland. Rashford is called into the starting line-up and he scores twice in a 5-1 win.
    February 28: Rashford is in dreamland as he nets another Old Trafford brace to help United to a 3-2 victory over Arsenal on his Premier League debut. 
    March 20: Having gone a month without a goal, he makes amends and more with the winner in the Manchester derby.
    March 27: Makes England Under-20 debut but the Young Lions lose 2-1 to Canada.
    April 13: Sets United en route to the FA Cup semi-finals with a sensational strike in a 2-1 victory at West Ham.
    April 16: Relegates Aston Villa with his goal in a 1-0 win at Old Trafford.
    May 16: Named in England's provisional squad for Euro 2016.
    May 27:  Marks his England debut with a goal after just three minutes.
    The teenager, who has been earning around £1,500 a week at United amid a meteoric rise, told the club's website: 'I am delighted to have signed a new contract. 
    'I have always been a Manchester United fan, so to be playing in the first team really is a dream come true. I am grateful for having the chance to prove myself. 
    'To be able to play football at the biggest club in the world means everything to me and my family.'
    Speaking to United's official website, executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward said: 'Marcus is a naturally talented footballer with great potential. 
    'He has taken his chances well and has integrated into the first team very quickly. I am delighted that Marcus has signed a new contract, he is at the right club to continue his development. 
    'He is still very young and we need to be patient but he is developing in the right way and we believe he has a great future ahead of him.'
    Rashford only made his first team breakthrough in February, scoring twice against Midtjylland in a 5-1 Europa League win before following up with a brace against Arsenal.

    He has scored eight goals for United in 18 appearances before marking his England debut with a goal after just three minutes.
    Mourinho is understood to be excited at the prospect of working with the striker despite reservations from some within Old Trafford that he will be suppressed next season by the arrival of new signings. 
    Left back Borthwick-Jackson made his Premier League for United against West Brom in November and has continued to progress in the first-team.  
    He picked up the Under 21 Player of the Year award at the Manchester United Player of the Year awards, voted for by the Manchester United fans.
