Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has spoken highly of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli on BT Sport.
“He has obviously got more experience because he came through at MK Dons which has helped him progress and make the impact he has done at Tottenham.
“He's a very exciting player. We will have to see how his career works out but he's got all the tools to become a top player domestically, but also in Europe as well.”
Gerrard, who joined Major League Soccer outfit LA Galaxy in the summer transfer window, has also admitted his disappointment at Liverpool’s failure to sign Alli.
"I was actually disappointed Liverpool didn't sign him,” said the 35-year-old midfielder. "I thought he was certainly a player Liverpool might've tried to go for, especially with me coming to the end. He's certainly a player that could play for Liverpool for 15 years, he's got that ability.”
Alli is enjoying a breakthrough season at Tottenham this campaign and has already earned call-ups to the England national team.
The 19-year-old former Milton Keynes Dons’ player’s performances in midfield this season have been superb.
Alli is arguably the best teenage footballer in the Premier League at the moment and has genuine quality.
True, there is hype over his emergence this season, but the youngster’s consistently good displays in midfield for Spurs and England suggest that he will prove to be a long-term success.

The England international has scored two goals and created 12 chances in 12 Premier League appearances for Tottenham so far this campaign.
Alli has a pass accuracy of 77% and a shot accuracy of 60%, and has won seven headers, 11 dribbles and 24 tackles.
What have you made of Dele Alli’s performances for Tottenham Hotspur so far this season?
