Both teams will be paid Sh1million each to play in the match expected to bring down the curtains on the local calendar
Local football fans are set for one more treat in the local derby when Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards clash on December 12 in the inaugural Charity Cup.
Both teams will be paid Sh1million each to play in the match expected to bring down the curtains on the local calendar. It is being sponsored by the Ministry of Sports and a host of their companies.
According to AFC Leopards chairman Dan Mule, the match has been on the cards for some time and has not gone ahead due to the regional Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup.
"It was supposed to be played some time back but Gor Mahia requested that we let their players be allowed to come back home from the regional Senior Challenge Cup in Addis Ababa. It will therefore, be played on December 12," he told Goal.

Sofapaka’s Shivachi moves to Tusker
The SportPesa Premier League window opened on Tuesday as Harambee Stars defender Collins "Coloccini" Shivachi crossed over from Sofapaka toTusker.
Shivachi had been rumoured to be leaving Batoto ba Mungu throughout the season owing to unpaid dues.
“We were supposed to start doing business from December 1 and Shivachi was among the players that we had finished negotiations with,” Tusker chairman told James Musyoki told kpl.co.ke.
Shivachi joined Batoto ba Mungu in 2011 immediately after completing his secondary school studies at Kakamega High School and he has developed into a solid fullback. Shivach is nicknamed “Coloccini” after Argentine center back Fabricio Coloccini who currently plays for Newcastle United.
He had an impressive 2015 domestic season where he was utilized in his preferred center back position following the departure of Eugene Asike, incidentally, to Tusker.
He has scored five goals for Sofapaka this season and is, unsurprisingly, a nominee for the 2015 Best Defender award.
Shivachi becomes the second player to be signed by the brewers this off season after little-known midfielder Harun Nyaka, who just completed his secondary school studies at Kakamega High School.

Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup: End of the road for Stars
Defending champions Kenya’s Harambee Stars bowed out of the Cecafa Senior challenge competition after losing 5-3 in post-match penalties to Rwanda in their quarter-final match on Tuesday at the National Stadium in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The two sides battled to a barren draw in regulation time in an evenly contested match forcing the tense post-match penalty kicks.
Amavubi, bees, successfully converted all their spot kicks while Kenya scored all there kicks but that of Mathare United striker Eric Johanna, who saw his shot saved by Rwanda goalkeeper’s Eric Ndashimiye.
Kenya coach Bobby Williamson refused to blame his players for surrendering their title, instead slamming the media for negative reportage that he reckoned might have ruined the morale in camp.
“We played very well under the circumstances. I think that he (Erick Johanna) lacked a bit of confidence when taking the penalty, but that is football. I still think that I have the best players. They are getting more experience and I would like to retain them for future assignments.
“I also think that the media did a lot of damage to the team with their negative reporting, and it is something that I will take up with the authors when I get back to Nairobi,” he said.
Kenya won the Challenge Cup as hosts in 2013 and held on to the title for two years as the competition failed to take place last year after designated hosts Ethiopia pulled out at the last minute citing lack of a sponsor.
