The Ft. Lauderdale Strikers continued to wheel and deal as they prepare for the Florida Cup in January, acquiring NASL veteran Neil Hlavaty from the Carolina RailHawks for James Marcelin, a 2015 NASL Best XI selection.

Hlavaty has played the second most games (128) of any player in NASL history. In 2015, the midfielder missed just one of 20 matches and tallied four goals and two assists.

“Neil is a modern midfielder who is perfectly suited for the attacking, possession game of soccer that we want to play,” Strikers head coach and GM Caio Zanardi said. “He is an intelligent box-to-box player who always shows commitment and is tactically well rounded.”

Hlavaty, 29, played college ball at Boston University and then with the Cleveland City Stars in the USL Second Division. He then had stints overseas at Swedish club Osters and Poland's Jagiellonia Biaystok before signing for NSC Minnesota Stars (now Minnesota United) in 2010. In 2013, he joined FC Edmonton, where he spent two seasons before moving to Carolina.

Marcelin, a Haitian international,  will be reunited with Colin Clarke in Carolina. Clarke was his coach at the Puerto Islanders in 2008-09.
