The Seattle Sounders are on the same path as the 2014 MLS season when they won the Supporters' Shield for the first time in franchise history.

Some would say that the Seattle Sounders 2015 MLS season has not begun the way it was supposed to with a record of 2-1-1 after four games on the young season. It is a little silly this early in the season to not be happy with any team’s performance. Granted if you are a Colorado Rapids fan, you have every right to be mad as your team has yet to score a goal. Back to the topic on hand, the Sounders are currently on pace to match their 2014 MLS season success despite the "slow start".

That got this writer to thinking. Have the Sounders really gotten have to a bad or slow start? Also, it is extremely ridiculous to act like the season is over four or five games in. The research goes back to 2009, the Sounders inaugural game, to 2015. From 2009-2014 the stats will show their first ten games of the season. The first four matches of 2009-2014 will be bolded to show you how they related to the start of the Sounders 2015 season.

2009: Win, Win, Win, Loss, Loss, Win, Tie, Tie, Tie, Tie = Four wins, two losses and four ties. That’s 16 points out of a possible 30 and nine points out of a possible 12 to begin the season. Team finished 12-7-11 (win-loss-tie) on 47 points and third in the West.

2010: Win, Loss, Tie, Win, Tie, Loss, Tie, Loss, Win, Loss = three wins, four losses and three ties. That’s 12 points out of a possible 30 and seven points out of a possible 12 to begin the season. Team finished 14-10-6 on 48 points and fourth in the West.

2011: Loss, Loss, Tie, Tie, Win, Tie, Win, Win, Loss, Tie = three wins, three losses and four ties. That’s 13 points out of a possible 30 and two points out of a possible 12 to begin the season. Team finished 18-7-9 (win-loss-tie) on 63 points and second in the West.

2012: Win, Win, Loss, Tie, Win, Win, Win, Win, Win, Loss = six wins, three losses and one tie. That’s 19 points out of a possible 30 and seven points out of a possible 12 to begin the season. Team finished 15-8-11 (win-loss-tie) on 56 points and third in the West.

2013: Loss, Tie, Loss, Loss, Tie, Win, Tie, Win, Win, Win = four wins, three losses and three ties. That’s 15 points out of a possible 30 and one point out of a possible 12 to begin the season. Team finished 15-12-7 (win-loss-tie) on 52 points and fourth in the West.

2014: Win, Loss, Win, Loss, Tie, Win, Win, Win, Win, Win = seven wins, two losses and one tie. That’s 22 points out of a possible 30 and six points out of a possible 12 to begin the season. Team finished 20-10-4 (win-loss-tie) on 64 points and Supporter Shield winners.

2015: Win, Loss, Tie, Win = two wins, one loss and one tie. That’s seven points out of a possible 12. Team finish to be determined.

As you can see from the data that is compiled above, the Sounders are actually ahead of 2014's pace and well ahead of 2013 and 2011. It's obviously too early in the season to know how the 2015 MLS season will end. If you are a little worried that the Sounders may not be on track for another successful season, the data says otherwise.
