Ahly, Etoile battle for top spot
Al Ahly will welcome Etoile Sportive du Sahel in Suez on Saturday, in their third Group A outing of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Red Devils are two points adrift of their opponents, who are leading the group on maximum points following back-to-back victories over Stade Malien and Espérance de Tunis with the same 1-0 scoreline.
So a home win will see Ahly overtake the Tunisians at the top of the table half-way through the competition.
And the ‘Red Castle’ will not be short of confidence ahead of the clash, after claiming the Cairo derby against archenemies Zamalek in the Egyptian Premier League in Alexandria last Tuesday, with a convincing 2-0 victory.
Meanwhile, Etoile du Sahel will be focused on getting something back from their trip to Suez, knowing that a win will almost secure them a spot in the semi-finals of the tournament.
But the Sousse-based outfit have suffered a major injury blow ahead of their clash, with defender Hamdi Nagguez, midfielders Amine Ben Amor and Franck Kom and strikers Diogo Acosta and Baghdad Bounedjah ruled out.
The game will kick off at Suez Stadium at 19h00 CAT on Saturday 25 July 2015.
