Egyptian giants Zamalek have announced the signing of three players -- Mohamed Salem, Sherif Alaa and Ahmed Hassan Mekki.
Zamalek have had a number of players on their transfer wishlist in the past weeks in a bid to boost their squad before the kickoff of next season.
After missing out on talented young midfielder Ahmed El Sheikh, who opted to join rivals Al Ahly, the White Knights boosted their playing personnel with Alaa and Salem from Arab Contractors as well as Mekki from Haras El Hodood SC.
"We have signed three players and they are Arab Contractors striker Mohamed Salem and his teammate Sherif Alaa, who plays as a left-back, and we also signed Ahmed Hassan Mekki, the striker of Haras El Hodood," Zamalek board member Ahmed Mortada, said.
"Salem and Sherif Alaa signed for five seasons while Mekki signed for three years. All of them will join the team next week and will be ready for the Caf Confederation Cup matches as we will add them to our squad in August.
"We are in negotiations to sign more players. We have reached an agreement with ENPPI to hire their playmaker Mahmoud Abdel Monem Kahraba and we are about to sign a foreign player."
New-signing Mekki said he is happy to join Zamalek, adding that it is a dream come true to be a part of the White Knights setup.
"It is a dream come true to be one of Zamalek players. When you start playing football you think only about playing for Al Ahly or Zamalek. All the time I wanted to be a Zamalek player and look where I am now.
"Al Ahly were in negotiations with me last season and in the current season but I took my decision by choosing Zamalek. I signed the contract on Tuesday and on same day Zamalek won the Egyptian league. This is a good sign for me," he said.
The 28-year-old is a member of the Egyptian national team while Salem is currently part of the Egyptian Olympic team.

Al Ahly hook El Sheikh

Egyptian powerhouse, Al Ahly, have signed Misr El Makasa SC midfielder, Ahmed El Sheikh for five years.
Al Ahly football director, Alaa Abdel Sadek, revealed the news of the new-signing and stated that the Red Devils completed the deal on Wednesday.
"El Sheikh is now one of Al Ahly players. We ended negotiations on Wednesday and he signed a five-year contract. He will join us soon to train with his new teammates.
"It is not only El Sheikh who joined us, as our former player Ahmed Fathy signed a three-year contract with us after he broke his contract with his former club, Umm Salal of Qatar. Fathy is very important to us."
Misr El Makasa SC director, Walid Hewedi, confirmed the departure of El Sheikh to Al Ahly.
Hewedi disclosed that Zamalek also showed interest in the midfielder and even outbid Al Ahly but El Sheikh preferred to join the Red Devils. Al Ahly will pay $1.2 million fee for the midfielder, said Hewedi.
"Al Ahly sent in an offer for the player and Zamalek too. Despite Zamalek putting in a bigger bid, the player decided to join Al Ahly. They will pay $1.2 million and that is very good for us. That will help us in this transfer window to sign good players," he said.
El Sheikh, 23, is the fifth deal for Al Ahly in this transfer window as they have signed Gabonese Malick Evouna, Ghanaian John Antwi, Saleh Gomaa and Ahmed Fathy.
