Wycliffe Kasaya says that the Harambee Stars are hoping fans can support them in large numbers when they take on Ethiopia in Chan qualifying Saturday.
Stars need a three goal win to see them through to the next round of Chan 2016 qualifying after going down 2-0 in Addis Ababa in the first leg.
Home support was key to the win for Ethiopia two weeks ago and Kasaya knows just how much it can help the Stars get to the much needed win.
“We need a win and we also need the fans to come help us get the win. In Ethiopia their fans made the atmosphere very tough for us and we hope that ours can do the same.”
“We have prepared very well and have had a productive time this week and we are confident that we can be able to produce a good performance.”
“I think that we can get over the line but it would be good if we have the fans on our side so I hope they come out in numbers,” he added.
Stars will need their best players to fire if they are to get a result, something Kasaya knows is pivotal.
“We will need the 14 players who will play to be at their best tomorrow. It is important that they play well if we are to get a result.”
Nkata leaves for Muhoroni
Ugandan coach Paul Nkata has left Nairobi City Stars after seven months in charge and will henceforth take charge as the Muhoroni Youth head coach, replacing former Kenyan international Francis Baraza.
News of Nkata’s new job broke late on Thursday and upon being contacted, he confirmed the development, saying he has entered an 18 month deal with the Awasi side and will be looking to better the team’s prospects.
Nkata says the team’s composition is good enough to see them earn a top half finish or at least finish in the top ten.
“Yes it is true; I have joined Muhoroni Youth as head coach. I have signed a one and a half year deal with the club and I have already started working there. I think going by the team’s performance in the first leg, my work is well cut out.
“The immediate objective is to help the team better their results in the second leg and if we can, finish in the top half or at least not below the top ten. I believe the team has enough quality to get the results we deserve,” the Ugandan coach noted.

Williamson believes Olunga will deliver for Harambee Stars
Scott tactician optimistic towering striker will rise to the occasion and fire Kenya to the next round of Chan qualifiers against Ethiopia on Saturday
Harambee Stars coach Bobby Williamson believes striker Michael Olunga will rise to the occasion and fire the team past Ethiopia in Saturday’s return leg match of Chan qualifier at Nyayo Stadium.
Despite leading the goal scoring chat locally with eleven strikes in just sixteen outings, Olunga’s form with the senior side has been wanting in the competitive fixture, with his only goal coming against minnows South Sudan last month. However, Williamson is optimistic that the lanky striker has what it takes to lead his side.
“He (Olunga) is a good striker; everybody knows that, all of you saw what he did against Botswana here in Nairobi during the U-23 assignment. He is a good prospect for Kenya. I still have faith in him, and on Saturday I know he will do something for the nation. If he is given enough services upfront, he will carry us through,” Williamson told Goal on Wednesday.
“The truth is, it is going to be a tough match, especially after conceding two goals away in the first leg; however, we have ninety minutes to make things right for ourselves and proceed to the next round. Let fans come in big numbers and support us, we will do our best to make them smile.”
Kenya went down 2-0 in the first leg and will need to win by a 3-0 margin in order to advance to the next round of the competition that only features locally-based players.
