The transfer window slams shut at 6pm this evening and we'll have news of every rumour, move and done deal right here

Deadline Day has arrived, but what does it have in store for the Premier League's clubs?
David De Gea's Real Madrid transfer is still up in the air after a paperwork cock-up late last night.
Manchester United will be looking to add a signing or two, including Anthony Martial, at some point today after a mass exodus of players yesterday.
Arsene Wenger insists Arsenal are looking to make a late addition to the squad, while Chelsea look set to bring in a centre-back at some point today.
Here's a club-by-club guide to what YOUR side will be doing today.
We'll keep you up to date with every done deal here throughout the day - don't miss a beat.

The Jose Enrique deal rumbles on...

West Brom seem to be distancing themselves from a deal for Jose Enrique, which rather suggests one of two possibilities:
A. He somehow managed to do what everyone feared, and got himself injured on the way to the Midlands. Maybe a severe mouth burn, because those pasties at the service station can be intimidatingly hot, especially the cheese ones?
B. He is going to Sunderland instead.
Liverpool fans will be praying there isn’t a C. to that list, which would mean him staying at Anfield. God forbid.

Jedinak in Stoke talks

Stoke are having talks with Crystal Palace captain Mile Jedinak.
But there is a sticking point over personal terms and Jedanik has already knocked back Watford and West Brom.
This deal might go until later in the afternoon.

Where will Charlie Austin be tonight?

The clock is ticking on Queens Park Rangers - and in particular Charlie Austin.
No club has yet to meet QPR’s valuation on Austin. There have been plenty of phone calls and interest, but nothing yet.
Bournemouth have signed Glenn Murray, still want Lewis Grabban and maybe that suggest their hopes of signing Austin are fading.
Newcastle and Crystal Palace have also made recent calls on Austin but while QPRdemand £15m their chances remain remote. They knew the price all along and are clearly hoping QPR will lower their sights. They haven’t yet.
QPR will also listen to offers for SandroMatt PhillipsRob Green and could even give Junior Hoilett away. But there’s no takers - yet.

De Gea update

It’s take this below with a pinch of salt, as it’s not up to the UEFA social media team to decide on such matters, but all signs at the moment point to David De Gea staying at Manchester United.
The deadline for the Champions League group stage squads is midnight tonight.

Owls hunt Canary

Ambitous Sheffield Wednesday are still hoping to do a deal for Norwich misfit GaryHooper.
Hooper is on £32,000-a-week but that is not putting off Wednesday who have already signed Barry Bannan from Crystal Palace.
Fulham are also in the mix for Hooper as they look to complete the £2m signing of Fulham defender Richard Stearman.

Cisse told to stay at St James'

Newcastle have told Papiss Cisse that he must stay put at St James’s Park.
Maybe that shuts the door on the chances of Charlie Austin. Let’s see if that changes later on in the day.
Cisse also has limited options now the Turkish window has shut.

David Maddock on that ever-expanding Ramiro Funes Mori fee

More on the mystery of the ever-expanding Everton fee for Ramiro Funes Mori. Last week, a deal was agreed at around £6m, but when he was unveiled this morning, the club announced they had paid £9.5m.
We are hearing that the player himself was due 50 per cent of any fee, and his club River Plate were reluctant to pay it out of their cut. In the end, to ensure they got the deal over the line, Everton themselves paid the extra.
It seems boss Roberto Martinez is a fan of the tough Argentine, and more importantly, was keen to complete the transfer, because he has only two first team centre halves and needed cover. So Everton were decisive to ensure they didn’t go into the rest of the year an injury away from crisis.

Cherries looking to Italy

Bournemouth have made a late loan move for Genoa winger Diego Perotti.
Watford have also been trying to sign him and made a £7m bid for him but that was rejected by the player.
Perotti, 27, is now a loan target for Bournemouth but they face a race against time to get it done.

Berahino still in the balance

Tottenham’s hopes of landing Saido Berahino are still in the balance.
Berahino and Spurs are still hopeful of getting a deal done before tonight’s 6pm deadline.
Meanwhile West Brom have replacements lined up, in QPR duo Charlie Austin and Matt Phillips.
But with six hours to go there has yet to be a breakthrough in talks.
Spurs have already had two bids rejected and West Brom are demanding £25m.

Chelsea's land Djilobodji - but they'll be back for John Stones

Chelsea have sealed the £2.7million signing of defender Papy Djilobodji from Nantes - but will return for Everton’s John Stones next summer.
The 26-year-old Senegal international has signed a four-year deal as the Champions move to address their problems in defence.
Chelsea have taken only four points from their opening 12 and currently have the second worst backline in the Premier League.
They turned to 6ft 4in Djilobodji at the weekend after having a string of bids for 21-year-old Stones turned down.
Everton have stood firm on their determination not to sell the rising star with Roberto Martinez insisting he is the future of their club.
The player is understood to be heartbroken but reacted impressively in their goalless draw at Spurs last Saturday.

Muddy Walters

Jon Walters’ attempts to force his exit from Stoke have hit another snag with thePotters insisting they first sign a replacement.
Boss Mark Hughes does not want to be left short by Walters’ departure and has identified Crystal Palace’s Mile Jedinak as his replacement.
But Stoke’s move for the Australian is complicated because of issues he has with Palace.
This has left Walters hanging on after he slapped in a transfer request last night.
Norwich, who have had a second £2million bid rejected by Stoke, are still in talks, while Tony Pulis is expected to make a late offer for Walters.
Stoke are insisting on £3million for the Republic of Ireland winger who has less than 10 months left on his current deal.

Bournemouth look to the Black Cats for Gradel replacement

Bournemouth have launched a late bid for Sunderland’s Will Buckley after being told £7million new-boy Max Gradel could face a long lay-off.
Gradel, who arrived at the Goldsands Stadium from St Etienne in the summer, suffered a knee injury against Leicester on Saturday and is likely to be sidelined until the New Year.
That has prompted Cherries’ boss Eddie Howe to ask the Black Cats about the availability of Buckley.
The former Brighton winger has fallen out of favour with Dick Advocaat, but Howe believes he could do a job for him.
Bournemouth want Buckley on loan, but Sunderland would prefer a permanent deal which would allow them to recoup most of the £2.5million they paid Brighton.

Nantes confirm Papy Djilobodji Chelsea move

Nantes have confirmed that they have reached an agreement for the signing of Papy Djilobodji, who will join the Blues on a four-year deal.
A fee of £2.7million has been touted for the Senegal international defender has been offered to Norwich, Bournemouth and Sunderland.
No news from the Premier League champions yet.

Jelavic details

West Ham have revealed all on their deal to bring in Nikica Jelavic.
The Croatian forward joins on a two-year deal, with the option of another two, on an undisclosed fee.
And the man himself has been talking to the West Ham website:
“I am very excited to be signing for West Ham United, especially as it is a big club and I didn’t know until a couple of days ago that I would have the opportunity to come here.

La Liga officials close the door on David De Gea move?

La Liga officials appear to have closed the door on David De Gea’s move to RealMadrid.
The Manchester United goalkeeper was all set to tie up his dream transfer to the Bernabeu last night after the two clubs finally agreed a deal.
United insisted that they had submitted the requested paperwork, but after the requisite documents didn’t arrive with FIFA’s Transfer Management System (TMS) before the midnight deadline - instead arriving at 12.28 - the future of the deal was in the hands of world football’s governing body.
However, even if De Gea were to be allowed to join the Spanish giants, the LFP - the equivalent body to the English Premier League - has ruled out reopening their registration period, thus meaning De Gea would be ineligible for league games.
“The period [for registrations] finished last night,” LFP sources told El País.
“The rules are for everyone and you must adhere to them.”
And while there have been reports of FIFA stepping in, the LFP insisted that even if they did then it wouldn’t change their stance.
“FIFA doesn’t have the authority to order the registration of a footballer,” they said.
Many - but not all - transfers also contain clauses dependent on the successful registration of the player, meaning that even if the deal was green-lighted at the top level, it would be destined for collapse.

West Ham confirm Jelavic

West Ham sure are busy this morning.
The Hammers are getting things done and have landed Nikica Jelavic from Hull City, which follows their earlier moves for Victor Moses and Alex Song.
More to follow on this one...

Could Chelsea spring a Pogba surprise?

Lot of talk among football agents of a record-breaking €100million deal being done on deadline day today, with Paul Pogba the player and Chelsea the club involved.
It’s no secret Chelsea want Pogba, but Juventus are reluctant to sell in this window, with Claudio Marchisio and Sami Khedira injured, and having lost Andrea Pirlo andArturo Vidal this summer.
There is a feeling Chelsea may have left it too late to complete what would be a British record transfer, eclipsing the £59.7m Manchester United paid real Madrid for Angel di Maria, but the Blues need to do something spectacular after such a lame start to their title defence.

Jelavic on the move

Steve Bruce is hoping Nikica Jelavic will be the last Hull player to leave the KC Stadium today.
Jelavic is joining West Ham in a £3million deal and Bruce does not want to lose any more stars after waving goodbye to 11 members of last season’s first-team squad this transfer window.
Hull are determined to resist Leicester and QPR’s interest in Ahmed Elmohamadyand would want a bid of at least £7million to consider cashing in on the Tigers stalwart.
Hull are also sweating on Michael DawsonTom Huddlestone and Mo Diame and all three of buy-out clauses in their contracts.

Competition for Jose Enrique

News that Sunderland may be interested in a late move for Jose Enrique...but dear God, could Liverpool risk that extra distance in travel for the left back? Imagine how many more opportunities there would be for him to be injured driving all the way up to the north east, especially at the service station pasty stop. No, if he’s arrived safely in the Midlands, then better keep him there. In bubble wrap.

More on the Moses deal

Chelsea have also confirmed the Victor Moses to West Ham deal on their website - and also revealed that the Nigeria international has penned a new four-year deal at the club.
Does that mean Moses has a future at Stamford Bridge? Or are the Blues ensuring they’ll get a fee for 24-year-old if/when they decide to sell him?
Moses has only made 44 appearances for the Blues since signing in 2012, with reports suggesting earlier this week that Jose Mourinho didn’t fancy him.

Joleon Lescott’s medical at Aston Villa has almost been completed ahead of his move across the Midlands from West Brom.
The relevant paperwork has been submitted by his representatives and the move should be confirmed in the next few hours.

West Ham sign Victor Moses on loan

We thought it was coming, now it has been confirmed.
West Ham are better off to the tune of one Victor Moses, as the Chelsea man signs up on loan at Upton Park for the rest of the season.
This follows loan stints at Stoke and Liverpool for the previous two seasons.

Lennon in, McGeady out at Goodison?

If Everton do manage to thrash out a deal for Aaron Lennon - and you can bet it will be seconds before the window closes, given Daniel Levy’s involvement - then expectAidan McGeady to go out, possibly on loan.
The pressure is slightly less intense there though, because the Scottish window stays open until midnight, and that is the most likely destination for the maverick winger.Celtic? Probably not. But stranger things have happened....

Laurence Griffiths

Berbatov back in the Premier League?

Aston Villa are close to finalising a deal to bring Dimitar Berbatov back to the Premier League.
The Bulgarian striker is a free agent after leaving Monaco in June, so the deal does not have to be completed before today’s 6pm deadline.
But Villa sources claim boss Tim Sherwood is confident that the former Manchester United striker will join the Midlands club this week.
Sherwood wants an experienced Premier League frontman and had also been attempting to sign Emmanuel Adebayor from Tottenham.
But Adebayor is set for West Ham, with the final year of his Spurs contract likely to be paid up, and Villa are now lose to tying up a move for the 34-year-old Berbatov.

Watford confirm Layun loan

Miguel Layun has left Watford on loan, after Porto snapped up the midfielder for the rest of the 2015-16 campaign.
The 27-year-old joined the Hornets in January and turned out 21 times for the side, chipping in with one goal - which happened to be in Watford’s Premier League opener against Everton this season.

Foxes in for Gray

Leicester City are still keen on taking Birmingham whizkid Demarai Gray - but the player has told friends he’s happy to stay at St Andrews this season under GaryRowett.
Gray, one of the hottest properties in the Championship, has a release clause in the three-year contract he signed during the summer, and Leicester have offered the £4.7million release clause, but Gray doesn’t want to move for irregular action, when he’s playing football week in week out.

Deals we expect to go through today - Part 1

Our man Darren Lewis has drawn up a list of deals that he expects to go through today.
Here’s his first slab of players:
Emmanuel Adebayor to West Ham
The talks are at an advanced stage. Spurs are ready to pay up the troubled Togo striker to get him out on a free as Victor Moses has taken up the final loan spot available at Upton Park. Hammers’ boss Slaven Bilic isn’t actually that keen but others at the club are. Expect it to be done.
Saido Berahino to Tottenham
Spurs should blink first. Basically because they need to. West Brom chief Jeremy Peace has played a blinder and has his Tottenham counterpart Daniel Levy over a barrel.
Peace already has Berahino’s replacement, Salomon Rondon, in for just £12million - a brilliant bit of business.
Peace is also well aware that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is desperate for get Berahino in to help Harry Kane up front.
The word is that West Brom want £30million for their man. Even if they settle for £25million that would represent a healthy profit - and sting a bit for Levy.
Andros Townsend to Aston Villa
Intriguing one this but could still happen. Townsend wants to play regularly in European Championship year and has vowed to fight for his place at Tottenham. Trouble is, he isn’t necessarily seen as a first-teamer by Mauricio Pochettino and Villa boss Tim Sherwood knows that. The Midlands club are positioning themselves to be first in the queue if the England winger gets the green light to go.

Simon Bird on comings or goings at Newcastle

Newcastle are expecting quiet day today and won’t be adding to their big summer spend.
However they will not be against off loading fringe players. Brentford allegedly have an interest in Mike Williamson, and Hull have been interested in Yoan Gouffran, both deemed well out of the first team picture.
Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has been monitoring the situation of Newcastledefender Paul Dummett, but there is little chance of that happening today.
Olivier Kemen’s sale to Lyon raises a small amount of cash for a teenager who had not played a first team game, despite his reputation as a promising talent.
Newcastle look light in the striker department, and will need Aleksandar Mitrovic to get goals, and hope Papiss Cisse is still up to it despite being unsettled.
Ayoze Perez will also have to take his chances. Interest from Spurs in Perez, rated at £15m, will be rebuffed, despite representing a huge profit in 12 months.

United insist Martial plan is no flash in the pan

Louis van Gaal has turned unproven Anthony Martial into the most expensive teenager in football history.
Less than 24 hours after vowing not to panic, the Manchester United boss pushed the emergency button by agreeing to pay £36million for the unproven Monaco forward.
United insist the deal for the 19-year-old took shape so close to Tuesday’s transfer deadline because Monaco would not sell while they remained in the Champions League and the French side were only knocked out of the qualifiers by Valencia last Tuesday.

Gary Neville is not a fan of all this

Gary Neville has delivered his withering assessment on the transfer window after watching Manchester United become embroiled in a “circus” on the eve of deadline day.
Goalkeeper David De Gea was all set to sign for Real Madrid after the two clubs finally came to an agreement after a summer of negotiations.
But with the £29million deal about to go through the required paperwork wasn’t delivered before the Spanish transfer deadline meaning the move is now in danger of collapse.
And after watching the drama play out former United defender Neville took to social media to express his dismay at the current system.

De Gea decision could take TEN days

David De Gea’s hopes of sealing his dream move to Real Madrid are looking increasing unlikely.
Manchester United sources last night maintained that they submitted their paperwork on time with regard to the release of De Gea’s player registration, as well as the relevant documents for the transfer of makeweight Keylor Navas.
United submitted all the paperwork and documents to FIFA’s International Transfer Management System (ITMS), a software programme onto which the buying and selling club must upload the required data with regard to transfers.
The Bernabeu club’s hopes of completing the deal now rest on being able to prove that they too had submitted all of the required documents before the midnight deadline - as they claim.
However, recent precedent for a similar move does not bode well for the 24-year-old keeper.
In January, Levante hoped they had beaten the midnight deadline to complete a six-month loan for Fulham’s Bryan Ruiz.

Why Martial's Manchester United move is good news for Spurs

Monaco’s sale of Anthony Martial to Manchester United yesterday was good news forTottenham’s European ambitions this season.
The Ligue 1 club yesterday tried to get Juventus striker Simone Zaza on loan for the season as a replacement. But when the Serie A club refused, Monaco decided against going into the market at the last minute to strengthen a squad which is in the same Europa League group as Spurs.
The team which beat Arsenal to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League last season has been dismantled with sales of over 200m Euros.
Geoffrey Kondogbia (Inter Milan), Yannick Ferreira Carrasco (Atletico Madrid), LayvinKurzawa (PSG) and Aymen Abdennour (Valencia) were all sold – and Joao Moutinhowould probably have been offloaded to Zenit St Petersburg if he had not been injured. Dimitar Berbatov did not have his contract renewed. Radamel Falcao, now on loan at Chelsea. is also still under contract with Monaco.

Hammers in 4 A Song

Apologies, that header is dreadful.
But West Ham handed Alex Song the number 4 shirt for this season, so that’s nice.
Still no official news on those other Hammers signings - but it seems likely thatVictor Moses and Nikica Jelavic will be signing up today.

Canaries in for Campbell?

Norwich City could make another move to strengthen their forward line with a loan swoop for Fraizer Campbell.
The former Cardiff man has no future at Crystal Palace and is free to leave the club.
But despite some interest this summer, particularly from the Championship, Campbell’s wage packed in the region of £30,000 per week has put off suitors.

David Maddock sure is going to miss Jose Enrique

Liverpool have agreed a deal with West Brom to sell Jose Enrique. The fee is described as a nominal one. Maybe it means he’ll go for nothing and leave behind the collection of toys he used to swan around the training ground with, while all the other players were out at work. Or perhaps the fee is the price of a luxury holiday in Dubai, which Enrique always seemed rather fond of. Whatever, you can be sure Liverpool would accept a packet of wine gums just to get rid of the left back.

No way, Jose: The party's over

Leeds set to snare Jordan

Leeds will today wrap up Jordan Botaka’s £1million switch from Dutch side Excelsior.
Botaka, 22, had his medical at Thorp Arch and the paperwork to make him Leeds’ eighth summer signing should be completed today.
The DR Congo winger has been offered a two-year deal at Elland Road with the option of a third.
Botaka claims he is excited about coming to Leeds, but sad that he is leaving his friends in Holland.
“I’m very happy, but at the same time I regret that I won’t see my buddies, brothers and colleagues,” he said. “But I know that we will always stay in touch. This is a new adventure for me.”

West Ham striker move stalls

West Ham’s bid to sign highly-rated winger Michail Antonio has stalled - becauseNottingham Forest want ALL of his £7million transfer fee up front.
The Hammers had their bid accepted yesterday for the 25-year-old for whom cash-strapped Forest paid just £1.5million last summer from Sheffield Wednesday.
But the east Londoners are refusing to break with standard practice in making the payment as a lump sum.
The deal should still go through before tonight’s deadline with Antonio desperate to make the switch.
The wideman has scored 15 goals in his debut campaign at the City Ground to attract interest from Derby and West Brom as well as the Hammers.
The Irons are set to complete deals for Victor Moses and Emmanuel Adebayor today after confirming the loan capture of Alex Song.
Moses is also poised to join on a season-long loan from Chelsea while Adebayor will finally leave Spurs for West Ham but may have to do so on a permanent basis.
The Hammers have room for just one more loan which means Spurs - desperate to offload Adebayor - could be forced to pay up part of his wages as a lump sum enabling the striker to move on a free transfer.

Jose Enrique finally set to leave Liverpool?

Start crossing your fingers Liverpool fans, and anything else that can overlap because he’s on the move....Jose Enrique is starting up the car and pointing it towards the M6.
The defender has been given permission to talk to West Brom, and is on his way for a medical. Maybe not time to hold the breath just yet though, with his record, the Italian could injure himself getting into the vehicle. Maybe the Reds should send him in an ambulance just to make sure.

Lamela's Marseille move stalls

Erik Lamela is still at Tottenham after Mauricio Pochettino stepped in to block a proposed move to Marseille.
The French club thought they had secured a deal after negotiations started with his agent last week and then talks opened with Spurs, La Provence has claimed. Italian clubs Juventus and Inter Milan had been interested in a loan move but Tottenham had wanted a sale for the Argentine who cost £30m in 2013. But late last night, Tottenham pulled out of the deal as Pochettino was unhappy the purchase of Saido Berahino had not been completed.
L’Equipe has claimed this morning that Everton yesterday made a 25m Euro (£18m) offer for Lamela to complicate the deal.

Newcastle target Alex Mowatt

Newcastle have been trying to force through a deal for promising young Leeds midfielder Alex Mowatt.
Toon boss Steve McClaren was hoping to get a deal over the line today but with Elland Road owner Massimo Cellino apparently unwilling to sell, the interest may have to be revived in January.
The 20-year-old Mowatt, who scored nine Championship goals from central midfield last season, is valued at £8million by Leeds.

Everton closing in on Lennon

Everton are confident of signing Aaron Lennon from Tottenham today for a fee of around £4.5million.
The Goodison Park club have had word that sense is prevailing in the Spurs boardroom and the 28-year-old former England winger will be allowed his move to Merseyside.
Lennon has just a year left on his White Hart Lane deal and has not been allocated a squad number for this season.
He has turned down interest from other clubs because he is keen for a permanent move to Everton, where he spent the second half of last season on loan.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy had been demanding a £9m fee for Tottenham’s longest-serving first-team player but Lennon is now expected to leave for around half that price.

Moses to West Ham done?

Jack Sullivan - who loves to give away a West Ham transfer on Twitter - has taken to the said social network to reveal that Victor Moses has joined West Ham on loan for the season.

Jon Walters stalemate

Stoke and Jon Walters are at loggerheads over the forward’s determination to push through his exit from the Britannia.
Walters, 31, last night slapped in a transfer request in an attempt to persuade Stoke to let him go after they rejected Norwich’s second
offer of £2million.
Norwich remain interested and the Potters are adamant he cannot leave for less than £3million, even though he has entered the final 10
months of his contract.
Ex-Stoke and current West Brom boss Tony Pulis is expected to make an offer and he is a big fan of Walters, having signed the Republic of
Ireland international from Ipswich five years ago.
Republic boss Martin O’Neill has given Walters time away from the international squad to resolve his future and he is expected to train
with the Irish tomorrow.

Still Walters run deep? The Stoke man is trying to push through a move

European papers mock United transfer business

Newspapers around Europe haven’t been particularly impressed with ManchesterUnited’s transfer business.
French publication L’Equipe point out that United are paying more for teenagerMartial than Real Madrid paid for Zidane.
And Marca label De Gea’s botched transfer to the Bernabeu “ridiculo”, which you don’t need to be Spanish to understand.

David Maddock on further comings and goings at Everton

Everton have confirmed they have signed Funes Mori, but suggest the fee is £9.5m. Hmmm. Seems to have gone up rather dramatically. Still, he’s an Argentinainternational and a highly regarded defender, who has signed a five year contract. Good start for Everton.
One deal definitely not happening is John Stones to Chelsea. And Everton are keen to correct some rather wild misconceptions that surrounded the London club’s pursuit of their under contract player.
They were NEVER involved in any negotiations at ANY point, and didn’t give Chelsea any price at which they would do business, because there was never a price they would sell at. Incidentally, reports that Chelsea bid £35m are wide of the mark...their offer for the England defender never got above £30m.

Liverpool fans can go about their business today

If you’re a Liverpool fan looking for dramatic news today, then you may be just a little disappointed, because it seems they’ve just about done all their business already (though 10 signings in the window isn’t exactly bad going is it?!).
The best you can hope for is the departure of Jose Enrique, with West Brom losing their senses and checking out the sick note defender. Expect wild celebrations down Anfield way if that goes through.
One deal not happening is Tiago Ilori to Sunderland, with the Portugal U21 international turning down a loan move to the Stadium of Light, to instead fight for a first team opportunity on Merseyside.

Staying with Palace...

Aston Villa have failed with a bid to take Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle on loan.
Villa boss Tim Sherwood is now looking elsewhere with Palace understood to be unwilling to allow Gayle to leave unless they get £10million for him.

Sky Sports News are reporting that the Crystal Palace striker is currently undergoing a medical on the south coast, so it looks like his £5million move should be going through today.
Palace have beefed up their striking options this summer, landing Connor Wickham from Sunderland and Patrick Bamford on loan from Chelsea.

Picture: Has Wenger flown to Paris?

On the surface, this looks reasonable - Arsenal manager flies out to Paris on deadline day to seal last-minute deal.
But wouldn’t potential signings be flying to Arsenal, not the other way around?
That is, of course, unless Wenger is going to see someone who hasn’t been given permission to leave the national squad.
We’ll bring you confirmation as soon as we get it.

Wanyama fumes

Victor Wanyama is furious after being told once more by Southampton that he will not be sold to Tottenham today.
The 24-year-old Kenyan has made it clear to the Saints that he wants to quit for north London to be reunited with his former boss Mauricio Pochettino.
But Southampton have so far stood firm in the face of his frustration and the north Londoners’ determination to sign their defensive midfielder.
It means Spurs will have to return for the former Celtic star in January if they want to sign him. Wanyama has privately vowed to reject a new deal with just two years left.
Spurs have already annoyed Southampton this summer by signing defender Toby Alderweireld ahead of the Saints who were adamant they had first option on the Atletico Madrid defender.
The South coast side have no intention in further strengthening their rivals by allowing Wanyama to solve their problems in midfield.

Today's Daily Mirror back page

It was a busy night at Mirror Towers here in Canary Wharf last night.
Here’s the late (and we mean late) edition of the Daily Mirror, as the David De Gea saga took a whole heap of twists.
If you’re just tuning in, catch up on the missed deadlines, the IT problems and rest of the David De Gea developments last night here.

What's in store for Arsenal today?

Will we see any movement at Arsenal today?
Here’s John Cross with a bite-sized guide to the Gunners on deadline day:
In so far Petr Cech (£10million).
Out so far Lukas Podolski (£2m), Serge Gnabry (loan), Carl Jenkinson (loan), Wojciech Szczesny (loan), Yaya Sanogo (loan).
What could happen on deadline day? Arsene Wenger is still watching and waiting, but it would take a domino effect with players suddenly becoming available for Arsenal to do anything. A striker is still wanted but they’re not panicking, so my suspicion is they won’t do anything else.

The one and only? Will Petr Cech be Arsenal's sole signing of the summer

Johnson to Derby?

A quick line here from our man James Nursey, who is reporting that Norwich City midfielder Bradley Johnson is a target for Derby County.
It sounds like the Rams could be busy today, as they look to get over their lacklustre start to the Championship season.

Will Spurs land Berahino?

West Brom are braced for a third Tottenham bid for Saido Berahino and have lined up QPR’s Charlie Austin and Matt Phillips as replacements.
The Baggies are prepared to cash in on the wantaway Berahino if Tottenham meet their £25million asking price for the England Under-21 striker.
West Brom have played hardball with Spurs, rebuffing their two bids, and last week rejected Berahino’s transfer request.
They were annoyed at what they saw as Tottenham undervaluing Berahino, who scored 14 Premier League goals last season, and could sell if Spurs meet their £25million valuation.
Tottenham remain determined to pair Berahino with Harry Kane to take some of the goalscoring burden off the England international’s shoulders following their poor start.

Southampton close in on defender

Southampton are finally set to get their man, Virgil Van Dijk, today.
The Dutch defender had a medical last night ahead of his move from Celtic to St Mary’s.
The two clubs have settled on a fee, believed to be around £11m.

Arsenal eye PSG raid?

Arsenal are working on a mammoth raid of Paris Saint-Germain on deadline say, according to the Daily Mail.
The Gunners are believed to be prepared to shell out £66million to secure both Edinson Cavani and Adrian Rabiot.
Cavani is expected to cost between £45m and £50m if he is to complete the move to the Emirates, while Rabiot will also demand a hefty fee as he is one of the hottest prospects in the game.
Arsenal are reportedly hopeful of bringing both men to the club as they look to complete some late deals - and Arsene Wenger has reportedly flown to Paris to do the deals.

West Ham land Song

West Ham have landed Alex Song on another season-long loan from Barcelona.
Chairman David Gold has taken to Twitter to confirm the news, as Song signs on for a second campaign at the club.
And it doesn’t sound like that’ll be the last new face at Upton Park today, as Jack Sullivan - the oracle of all Hammers transfers - last night said to expect another THREE signings as well as Song.

Anthony Martial in profile

Manchester United - assuming they can conquer their IT problems today - look set to confirm the signing of Anthony Martial at some point today, but what can Red Devils fans expect from the teenage striker?
French football expert Andrew Gibney has profiled the £36million man and addressed those ‘new Thierry Henry’ claims that have been banded around.

Rojo the next out at Manchester United?

Marcos Rojo’s future at Manchester United is in doubt after a reported bust-up withLouis van Gaal.
The Argentine arrived at Old Trafford for £16million last summer and enjoyed a decent first campaign in the Premier League.
However, he has not featured at all this term after failing to join United’s pre-season tour of North America.
Rojo, along with Angel Di Maria, was due to join up after Argentina’s Copa America campaign but both failed to appear.

Everton set to complete deal

Everton will complete a £6million deal for Ramiro Funes Mori on deadline day morning after getting the all-clear on a work permit.
The Toffees had been sweating on clearance from the Home Office for the Argentina defender, who has just one cap for his country.
However, under new rules, the Toffees were able to demonstrate he qualified to play in the Premier League.
Boss Roberto Martinez agreed a fee with the centre half’s club River Plate more than a week ago.

Tiago Ilori targeted?

Sunderland will return to Anfield on Deadline Day to try and tempt defender Tiago Ilori to join them on loan.
Fresh from completing an £8million deal for Liverpool striker Fabio Borini, and having bought Anfield defender Sebastian Coates in July, the Black Cats now want the Portugal Under-21 international to make the same move north.
Boss Dick Advocaat has tracked Ilori for the past six months, but had an initial approach for the 22-year-old turned down back in June.

Galatasaray plotting future move for the Ox?

Turkish giants Galatasaray are preparing a huge offer for Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
They have made contact to enquire about the England international’s availability and are determined to try to get their man.
A French agent has got the mandate to attempt to broker a deal for the 22-year-old, who has got three years left on his current deal at the Gunners.
Galatasaray are clearly thinking about the future rather than this window but they are deadly serious about making it happen - and insist they have got the money.

Keylor Navas in profile

David De Gea is this morning’s biggest story so far, with Keylor Navas set for Old Trafford, should the paperwork snaffles get resolved.
But what can Manchester United expect from the Costa Rica international?
A cynic might wonder that if he’s not good enough for Real Madrid, is he good enough for the Red Devils and that’s just the question we asked Spanish expert Sam Marsden.

Helios de la Rubia
Is he a keeper? Navas is on his way to Old Trafford... maybe.

What are we expecting today?

While we wait for fax machine across the land to start up and for Jim White to stagger out of his reanimation chamber, here’s a quick summary of some of the main storylines that we’re expect to get resolved - one way or another - by 6pm tonight:
  • Will Manchester United and Real Madrid get the David De Gea deal done (see 4.05am entry)
  • Manchester United are also looking to confirm their £36million move for Monacostriker Anthony Martial
  • Tottenham are looking to go in again for West Brom striker Saido Berahino
  • Chelsea are in need of defensive reinforcements - will Everton’s hands-off threat overJohn Stones scare them off?
  • Have Arsenal got a big striker move up their sleeve?
That, however, is only the tip of the iceberg. Buckle up folks...

Will he or won't he?

Have Victor Valdes and Louis van Gaal reconciled?

It seems unlikely, given the way the Manchester United manager hung his goalkeeper out to dry earlier in the summer, but the Spanish goalkeeper has certainly raised a few eyebrows with his new Facebook cover photo.
Last night, less than 24 hours before the end of the summer transfer window, the Spaniard set a picture of United’s club crest as his Facebook cover photo.
The post could mean Valdes, who looked to be all but out of the Old Trafford exit door, does in fact have a future at Old Trafford.
He was set to join Turkish clubs Besiktas, but that deal collapsed earlier on Monday.

Dust off your yellow tie, it's time

We’re ready, Sky Sports News is ready - are you?

First Borini, now Ilori?

It looks like Sunderland are taking their shopping list and heading back to Anfield.
The Black Cats are keen to tempt defender Tiago Ilori to join them on loan.
Fresh from completing an £8million deal for Fabio Borini, and having bought Anfield defender Sebastian Coates in July, they now want the Portugal Under-21 international to make the same move north.
Boss Dick Advocaat has tracked Ilori for the past six months, but had an initial approach for the 22-year-old turned down back in June, our man David Maddock writes.
Liverpool though, have told the centre half they will not stand in his way if he wants to further his experience, and see a short stint at the Stadium of Light as a way of progressing his career.

Could the Ox be on his way to Turkey?

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain celebrates after Fabricio Coloccini scored an own goal from his deflected shot
It looks like Galatasaray have been eyeing up Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The Turkish giants are preparing a huge offer for the Arsenal star, says our man John Cross.
They have made contact to enquire about the England international’s availability and are determined to try to get their man.
A French agent has got the mandate to attempt to broker a deal for the 22-year-old, who has got three years left on his current deal at the Gunners.

LVG hits the panic button

Speaking of Man United...
Louis van Gaal has turned unproven Anthony Martial into the most expensive teenager in football history.
Less than 24 hours after vowing not to panic, the Manchester United boss pushed the emergency button by agreeing to pay £36million for the unproven Monaco forward.
Anthony Martial arrives at Carrington
United insist the deal for the 19-year-old took shape so close to Tuesday’s transfer deadline because Monaco would not sell while they remained in the Champions League and the French side were only knocked out of the qualifiers by Valencia last Tuesday.
But the swoop of Martial, with United unable to lure more stellar targets such as Gareth Bale, Pedro, Thomas Muller and Harry Kane, reeks of a fall-back option, says David McDonnell.

FIFA 'will look at De Gea deal today'

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague claims FIFA will look into the De Gea deal later today.
Both Real Madrid AND United are said to want the deal to go through but La Liga are adamant the paperwork did not arrive on time.
This could mean today will be busier than expected.
Just as well we’ve had our Weetabix, eh?

Is De Gea staying because of a paperwork cock-up?

It wouldn’t be transfer deadline day without last minute drama - and there was plenty overnight.
David De Gea’s deadline day move from Manchester United to Real Madrid is in danger of collapse - in a cock-up over paperwork.
Real were locked in talks with Spanish football authorities and FIFA amid reports they failed to submit their paperwork on De Gea by the recognised midnight transfer deadline in Spain.
Oh dear...
United and Real had agreed a £29million package for goalkeeper De Gea to move to Real for £22m, with Keylor Navas - valued at £7m - coming the other way.
According to United sources, they submitted on time their paperwork with regard to the release of De Gea’s player registration, as well as the relevant documents for the transfer of Navas.
United submitted all the paperwork and documents to FIFA’s International Transfer Management System (ITMS), a software programme onto which the buying and selling club must upload the required data with regard to transfers.

Here we go...

It’s finally here.
The players are ready. The managers are ready. The agents are ready. The mobile phones are fully charged. The fax machines are plugged in. Peter Odemwingie has a full tank of petrol in his car. Jim White is doing his breathing exercises. Harry Redknapp has had his car window mechanism checked and oiled, and we have got all our transfer deadline day clichés present and correct.
Yes, it’s here. Transfer deadline day is upon us once again and we’re raring to go.
Will YOUR club sign anyone? Will they sell anyone? Can your manager bring in that last-minute piece of the jigsaw that will allow you to go on and win the title/qualify for Europe/win the cup/get into the top half/avoid relegation (delete as appropriate)?
