Robert Lewandowski credits Bayern Munich's different tactical set-up this season for his recent proficiency in front of goal, the striker told ESPN FC.
The 27-year-old has scored seven goals in his past two games, including a stunning five in a nine-minute span against Wolfsburg last Tuesday.
In the past, Bayern's attack has been flanked by wingers Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, who both love cutting inside and shooting themselves.
But with those players both injured, Bayern manager Pep Guardiola has turned two more orthodox wingers, Douglas Costa and Kingsley Coman, who have focused on supplying to ball to Lewandowski and fellow forward Thomas Muller.
Speaking exclusively to ESPN FC, Lewandowski said he wasn't about to relax after his remarkable week.
"It's nice when they're going in but you cannot stop working hard because of that," he said.
"With Douglas Costa and Coman on the wings, there are lots of crosses, and therefore lots of chances in the box.
"And it also helps that Thomas Muller is playing very closely to me, like a second striker. It's hard to keep the ball when you're up against four defenders and two holding midfielders by yourself.
It's easier with somebody next to you, somebody you can combine with."
Combined, Lewandowski and Muller have scored 16 goals through seven games, doubling their total at this point last season.
Lewandowski said he felt more trust from his coach and teammates in his second year at the Allianz Arena.
"I think so," he said. "In my experience, it's always better in the second season, when you know the club and what's expected of you a bit better.
"I'm also slightly older now, so I've learned from my mistakes last season or the season before to become better.
"Being a striker is about being patient, and about trusting yourself. You won't have 100 touches, like a midfielder. Sometimes, as in the game against Mainz, you hardly touch the ball and have to come all the way back to the centre-circle to get involved.
"But you need stay focused and keep fighting for the chance, because at Bayern, a chance will definitely come, eventually. Staying tuned for these moments is something you definitely get better at as a striker, with experience."
Robert Lewandowski's goals earn him No. 1 in the Player Power Rankings
Each week, ESPN FC's worldwide editorial desks nominate their top 10 performers from the weekend action, and the results are collated into a final Player Power Rankings countdown.
Let us know what you think of the countdown by commenting below or on Twitter using #ESPNFCrankings.
1. Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)
After scoring twice at Mainz on Saturday, Lewandowski now has 10 goals in just six Bundesliga games this season. In fact, he has reached double figures despite playing just 427 minutes in the league so far. Mind you, given he scored five in nine minutes vs. Wolfsburg last week; maybe we should be asking whether his production has actually dropped at other times!
2. Nikola Kalinic (Fiorentina)
Kalinic signed for Fiorentina from Dnipro in the summer and has made an instant impact in Florence, scoring four goals in his first six Serie A games. Three of those came in Sunday's 4-1 thrashing of leaders Inter, a win which sees Fiorentina move into first place themselves. Not since 1999 have the Viola sat atop the Italian league standings.
3. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Borussia Dortmund)
After setting a Bundesliga record last Wednesday by becoming the first player to score in each of the season's opening six games, Aubameyang extended his own mark with a double strike vs. Darmstadt. The 26-year-old Gabon international now has nine goals overall in league play, from just 27 shots taken.
4. Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)
Arsene Wenger said last week that he wasn't worried about Sanchez's slow start to the season and the Arsenal manager's faith was vindicated as his Chilean forward bagged a hat trick at Leicester. Sanchez scored 16 Premier League goals last season, and his side will need a similar -- or greater -- return this campaign if they are to challenge for the title.
5. Luis Suarez (Barcelona)
While Barcelona fans fretted over the injury suffered by Lionel Messi on Saturday, Suarez ensured that no damage was done in terms of the result by scoring twice vs. Las Palmas. The Uruguayan has been arguably Barcelona's most consistent forward so far this season and will need to maintain that form, given that Messi is expected to miss eight weeks.
6. Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool)
How Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers must wish that Sturridge had been at his disposal more often in recent times. The striker scored twice vs. Aston Villa to remind everyone of what he is capable and, while Liverpool have more issues than his return alone can solve, they are certainly a better side with him than without him. Now, can he stay fit?
7. Erik Lamela (Tottenham)
He hasn't been as consistent as Spurs fans might have hoped but it's worth remembering that Lamela is still only 23 and in just his second season in England. His ability is not in doubt and, with a goal and an assist, was very much in evidence during Tottenham's 4-1 thrashing of Man City. Also on display was a tireless work ethic from the Argentine.
8. Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli)
With a goal and an assist, Higuain was instrumental in Napoli's 2-1 statement win over Juventus. With five goals in six league games, he is on track to better his best scoring season in Italy, which came last season when he netted 18 times. Indeed, his 2009-10 mark of 27 in a La Liga season, set while playing for Real Madrid, could also come under threat.
9. Javier Pastore (Paris Saint-Germain)
Two assists at Nantes were the latest examples of Pastore's good form, coming as they did after he set up a goal vs. Reims and then scored against Guingamp. The arrival of Angel Di Maria might have put regular playing time in doubt for Pastore, but the 26-year-old has started five of PSG's six league games so far this season.
10. Juan Mata (Manchester United)
As one of only three players to start each of United's 11 games in all competitions, Mata has established himself as a key member of Louis van Gaal's side this season. The Spaniard has contributed three goals and four assists, with one of each coming in Saturday's win over Sunderland, which saw United move to the top of the Premier League.
Also receiving votes: Hatem Ben Arfa, Angel Di Maria, Leo Baptistao, Anthony Martial, Jonas, Carlos Kameni.
