EX-England boss says expected announcement shows how revered coaches in Italy are
FABIO CAPELLO has hailed the impending appointment of Antonio Conte as Chelsea manager a win for Italian football.
The former England, Real Madrid and AC Milan boss believes the move shows how revered Italian coaches are in world football.
Capello said: “Antonio at Chelsea would be yet another success for our school of coaches.”
Conte, whose contract as Italy national coach runs out after the Euros, is reportedly set to be announced as the new Blues boss next week with him taking charge in the summer.
He is believed to have already agreed a three-year deal worth £6million a year to take charge at Stamford Bridge.
Conte is expected to bring his trusted backroom team with him to west London. Angelo Alessio, Massimo Carrera and Paolo Bertelli, who worked under him at Juventus, will follow him to London as will Mauro Sandreani to work within the scouting department.
